Rome is the capital and largest city of Italy and a very popular destination for UK travelers. There are many flights to Rome from London and other major UK cities such as Birmingham and Manchester. Rome also offers visitors and residents alike access to dozens of parks and natural areas. It has one the largest expanses of green space of all the European capitals. These parks include the Appian Way Regional Park and the Pineto Regional Park.
Rome is also famous for its food, and plan to spend several hours enjoying each meal, as that is the Italian custom, especially for dinner. The evening meal has several courses, including dessert, and is to be savored and not rushed. Pizzerias are very popular in Rome and make some of the most incredible food. Some visitors travel to Rome simply for the food! But don?t worry because you can easily walk off any extra calories when you visit the city?s famous landmarks.
Rome’s weather varies from season to season. Spring and fall tend to be very pleasant and very popular with tourists. October is an especially busy month. Summers are hot and dry, while winters tend to be cool and rainy. Peak season for travel to Rome is April through October, but be aware most of the city takes vacation in August. Rome is basically shut down for the month. If you wish to make your vacation trip to Rome during August, be sure call ahead to make sure the sites you plan to visit are available to visitors.
