Sorry my friend but there is no "short hop" to Cairo from North America however there is a affordable flight:
$1000 even on Cheaptix with all fees included:
If you drive to Buffalo, NY you cut the cost almost in half:
Buffalo, NY-New York (JFK)
Delta# 6262 3:35p.m.-5:14p.m. on Tuesday August 2nd
New York (JFK) to Cario, Egypt (CAI)
Egypt Air #986 6:30p.m.-12:25p.m. on Tuesday August 2nd arriving Cairo on Wednesday August 3rd
If you really wanted to fly out of Toronto Pearson you can expect to pay $1510 and connect in Montreal to Egypt Air.
