   Promotional fares show up at random times, so the best you can do is to sign up for an airline's newsletter so they can tell you about promotions.

   Looking at Malaysia Airlines, a sample trip from Singapore to Tokyo is 495 SGD. It seems cheap, but the total price is that plus 544 SGD for a 1039 SGD ticket.

   You can use an aggregator website like kayak.com to look for best fares.

   for direct flights, its either SQ or ANA which are both expensive. probably u can try taking malaysia airlines which stopover at KL. its not cheap travelling to japan.
