Is it cheaper to pre-pay and book domestic flights within Thailand before we go?

Or to just buy our tickets when we get there? Everyone's been quite helpful with their responses to date – thanks guys!
I recommend booking when your here. you never know if your schedule going to change or if you decide to change your plans. Travel agent here will give you good advice or just go on-line. I agree with the above about Thai Airways, booking at a agent or with Thai Airway is seems to be cheaper. Good Luck and have fun here.

It depends on the air carrier you travel and also how much earlier you book.
TG (http://www.thaiair.com) online booking seem to be higher than purchasing from agent locally.
Bangkok Airways (http://www.bangkokair.com) fix price.
Air Asia (http://www.airasia.com), more early you book and pay more cheaper.
Nokair (http://www.nokair.com), same as Air Asia but the price variation is not much.
One-to-go (http://www.fly12go.com) fix price no matter when you buy.
These are general rule but sometime they have big discount ticket.
Please also check the condition of each ticket.

Ok agree with the low cost airlines and with that it is cheaper to buy earlier than later same as Ryaniar model.
But stay clear of Nok air no matter what they are low cost low maintenance I flew with them once to Chiang Mai and never again… blow out on a tyre…

Frankly, there is not much price difference whether you book on-line or book at the counter. The only assurance for you is that you have seat booking especially if you travel during peak period like weekend and Thai holidays. Even then, some people had found themselves out of seat even if they pre-book online.
So, you never know the result even if you book online. If you are sure that you are not flying during their peak season, just buy over the counter.
Gives you more flexibility.
Happy flying.

If you have a fixed itinery and know where and when you are travelling I would book online back home and I'd use one2go airline where possible. You wont gain anything in price(ridiculously cheap anyway)They are as trustworthy as Thai (baby brother) and have always given me excellent service
If you need a bit more flexibility you will need to book locally and take your chances getting the flight you want, though to be honest that shouldn't be a problem unless you want to get to Koh Samui at peak time.Good luck
