Affiliate websites and package holidays ” if you know the concept of how they work, you could actually save money and get the best deal every year.

Here is how, its the package holiday marketing companies that get you the best deals, the affiliate website is only a mask over the top.

Firstly we need to think about how the holiday marketers system can benefit us.

A good holiday marketers system will consist of a database that all the top tour operators can post their holidays to, meaning the holiday affiliates who go after specific holiday locations such as package holidays to Costa del sol will show you the cheapest holidays from 6,7,8 or even more companies.

Do you see how amazing this can be.

This is how affiliate holiday web sites can save you a fortune by listing the top deals from all these companies by price, star ratting or even board type.

I book my holidays through them every year.

However, there is always the problem of keeping yourself safe, as there are many companies who are not so trustworthy, so what do you do here.

By following a couple of top tips, you can protect yourself:-

. Always use a debit card such as visa / MasterCard etc

. Always look for an ABTA number from the sites booking agent, may not always be the site.

. Its good to check the booking agents reviews on your favourite search engine e.g. type in the name of the booking agent then type review to see what you come up with.

I do these checks every year, if the website has a holiday I think looks good for me, I book it.

Also good to note, if the booking agent has a phone number as you can ask about things of interest such evening entertainment for kids or kids clubs.

One of the problems you may have while holiday hunting on affiliate websites is that the holidays submitted by the Tour operators may not always be too far in advance, only about three or so months.

As I always leave holiday hunting to more or less the last couple of months as I feel the prices are at there best, especially with the credit crunch.

Heres an example Im the best man later this year for my brothers wedding, so I thought I would try a couple of travel agents in January, you know the bricks and mortar high street type, they wanted to charge me 650 per person to fly to Magaluf for a week with the lads for a stag week.

I hung back to March and apparently holidays to Spain have dropped as much as 24% according to press articles.

So I checked an affiliate website to see the price had dropped to 420 per person, how glad am I that I hung back, however, I will hang back a bit longer to see how much the price still drops.

I know Im taking a chance here, but I see 4 or 5 holiday companies on the affiliate site and I price watch them, so if one company starts to go back up, I buy my holiday then.

I guess if they all go up at once, I missed out, to be fair Ive not missed out yet, give it a try, even if you dont buy, its a good way to kill 20 mins a night, and you may even save money one day.

UK to Munich

Mar-24-2009 By Tom Martens

There are several ways to fly from the UK to Munich, Germany. Options include both direct and connecting flights from London, Manchester, and Birmingham.

Munich the capital of the proud, free German state of Bavaria, nestled near the foothills of the Alps. Berlin is a cosmopolitan city famous for its cathedrals, museums, and palaces, including the Residenz, home to Bavaria rulers for nearly 600 years. It boasts an aesthetically appealing mix of historic building with impressive post-war architecture. Munich had to rebuild almost all of its historic buildings after the bombings of the Second World War, but urban planners also created new masterpieces of architectural design to note the city’s important roles in the European Union. Located along the banks of the River Isar, Munich is the Germany’s third most populous city, after Berlin and Hamburg, with about 1.4 million inhabitants.

Munich has a continental climate, strongly modified by the proximity of the Alps, and that also means high levels of precipitation, especially rain. Visitors can also expect snow during some point in the winter, which lasts from December to March. While Munich?s winters are very cold, rain storms are rare in the winter. January is often the coldest month in Munich. The range of temperature between day and night or summer and winter can be extreme. Down winds from the Alps can produce large changes in temperature within a few hours, even in the winter. Summers in Munich city are fairly warm and last from May until September, with July being the hottest month of the year.

The biggest and probably best known draw of Munich to travelers is the Oktoberfest, accurately characterized as the world’s biggest beer festival. Oktoberfest takes place, oddly enough in September, beginning 16 days prior to the first Sunday in October. Visitors feast on traditional sausages, spatzle, roast pork, pretzels, and strudels, and wash it all down with a glass of a fine German beer. The lighter color Weissbiers or wheat beers tend to be more popular with both locals and visitors, although the darker beers are also on draft. Beers are paired with cheeses and thinly sliced radishes. Fish is also a favorite in Munich, especially whitefish or trout speared on a wooden skewer and grilled or smoked.

Munich is famous for its green spaces and large and numerous parks. Visit the Englischer Garten, the Westpark and the Olympiapark, the grounds of the Nymphenburg Palace and the Schleissheim Palace, and the Hofgarten, the oldest park in Munich.

Visitors to Munich can also take advantage of the city’s large green space and numerous parks. These include the Englischer Garten, the Olympiapark and Westpark, the parks of Nymphenburg Palace and Schleissheim Palace, and the Hofgarten, the oldest park in Munich.

Continental Airlines: Pioneer in Low Fares

Mar-17-2009 By Tom Martens

Continental Airlines is based in Houston, Texas, with hubs in Newark, New Jersey and Cleveland, Ohio as well. Continental Airlines is the fourth largest airline in the United States and flies to destinations in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Continental offers more than 6,000 daily departures, serving hundreds of national and international destinations. The airline employees almost 83,000 workers.

Continental Airlines is a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, partnering with Northwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air France, Aeromexico, Alitalia and KLM. Continental also has alliances with Amtrak train service and U.S. Helicopter in the United States, and SNCF French Rail in France. However, Continental plans to leave SkyTeam in October 2009 in order to join the Star Alliance. Joining the Star Alliance allows Continental to work more closely with United Airlines. Continental has been in merger talks with United off and on since 2006. However, Continental plans to focus on the Star Alliance until October.

The Continental frequent flyer program is OnePass. Member earn valuable miles on all Continental flights, as well as when they travel on Aero Republica, Copa, or any other SkyTeam carrier (Star Alliance after October 2009). Frequent flyers can earn and use their miles on Continental or any other carrier in its alliance.

Continental was founded in 1931 in El Paso, Texas as Varney Speed Lines. It offered service to and from El Paso and destinations in New Mexico and Colorado and also to Las Vegas. As the early carrier expanded its routes, it changed its name to Continental in 1937.

Continental is a pioneer in the lower fare moment, introducing its first coach fares in 1962. It has been flying to Europe since 1985.

Continental Airlines was also the first U.S. airline to hire an African American pilot in 1963, as well as the first U.S. airline to fly through bankruptcy.

The company recently announced another first with the demonstration of the biofuel-powered flight by any commercial airline in the U.S. The fuel was a special blend extracted from algae and jatrophra seeds. The company intends to continue working with biofuels, as part of a comprehensive effort to reduce air travel’s environmental footprint. Continental offers its passengers the opportunity to buy carbon offsets, the money used to replant deforested areas, for just two dollars per ticket. The US Environmental Protection Agency has recognized Continental for its continuing efforts at green transportation.

Every Continental jet was built by Boeing, whether 737, 757, 767, and 777. The airline plans to add the Boeing Dreamliner 787 to its fleet before 2012. Continental’s exclusive agreement with Boeing dates from 1990, although the European Union ruled that the contract was void when Boeing acquired its rival McDonnell Douglas in 1997. For all practical purposes, however, the exclusive relationship between Continental and Boeing has continued.

Like every other airline, Continental has struggled with its finances. It reported losing millions of dollars in 2008 due to fuel costs and funding needs for retired pilots.

Austrian Airlines is the flagship carrier of Austria, with headquarters in Vienna, which is also the airline’s main hub at Vienna International Airport. Vienna International prides itself on the ability of passengers to change flights quickly and easily. Airport personnel promise that a passenger should never have to spend more than 30 minutes waiting for a connecting flight. There are plenty of lounges and cafes at Vienna International Airport for those passengers who do have to wait to board connecting flights.

Austrian Airlines was founded 52 years ago, in 1957. Along with its subsidiary Tyrolean, Austrian Airlines focuses on providing multiple choices for air travel to and from Central Europe and Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The carrier has over 8,500 employees, and is a member not only of the Austrian Airlines Group, but also of the Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline alliance representing 24 different carriers. Most Austrian Airlines jets were built by Airbus or Boeing.

Austrian Airlines is a member of the frequent flyer program called Miles & More. This is the largest frequent flyer program in Europe, with over 15 million members, and Miles & More is used by 13 European airlines. The program allows its members to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles on all member airlines as well as the airlines that are members of the Star Alliance.

Few airlines place a greater emphasis on safety. For nearly 30 years, since 1981, every Austrian Airlines flight has been accompanied by at least two undercover sky marshals. All pilots and flight attendants receive frequent training with a special emphasis on safety, as well as new technology.

Much as the Vienna airport offers singular efficiency in transferring passengers between flights in 30 minutes or less, Austrian Airlines offers outstanding customer service. Completely revamping its customer service program in 2006, Austrian Airlines added dozens of new features, ranging from new passenger lounges to free snack service in economy to all-inclusive customer care for passengers on the ground. Calling their new program a success, Austrian Airlines proudly points to multiple industry surveys giving them top rankings in customer service and quality.

The airline is operating under new management as of February 2009. Dr. Peter Malanik and Dr. Andreas Bierwirth were appointed as the airline’s chief executive officers with equal rights. The airline’s board of directors hopes the new management team can strength the airline as it continues to face declining passenger totals in the wake of the global economic crisis. Austrian Airlines carried 10.7 million passengers in 2008, down from 2007, and the airline expects a further decrease in passenger totals in 2009. To help combat this expected decrease, Austrian Airlines plans to add four new flights a week to Amman, Jordan in May 2009, keeping with its focus on serving the Middle East.
